This policy statement presents the CAA policy and guidance to all stakeholders when originating (non-IFP) airspace data associated with CAP 1616.

The intention is to ensure that the data bound for the UK Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP) is fit for purpose and in line with the necessary aeronautical data quality (ADQ) requirements as set out in Assimilated Regulation (EU) No. 2017/373 and further described in CAP 1054.

Annex A to the policy statement contains detailed instructions relating to our preferred means of compliance (CAA Aeronautical Data Template)

The CAA Aeronautical Data Template spreadsheet (AeroData-Template.xlsm) is available to download and complete as described in Annex A:

> > CAA Aeronautical Data Template spreadsheet (updated January 2024)

If you have an organisational file management system (such as Sharepoint), you should ensure that users do not open the template in browser mode as this may disable functionality.

Ideally this would be changed globally by the administrator so the default is always the client application, failing that 'open in app' should be selected each time the file is opened. The 'client app' in question is Microsoft Excel and we recommend use on a windows platform..

Contact the CAA's Airspace Regulation team at airspace.policy@caa.co.uk for further information.
