The CAA provides an over-the-counter service on an appointment basis at Aviation House in addition to our application forms.

The opening hours for this appointment service are Monday to Friday 08:30—15:00. Please read the sections below for further information.

Fast track appointments

Flight Crew, including examiners and instructors, and Part 66 licence holders who require a same-day service or who have an application support enquiry will need to book an appointment. Appointments can be booked up to one month in advance and, subject to availability, up to 24 hours before it is needed. Applications must be submitted at least 24 hours prior to your appointment. The full terms and conditions of the new service will be supplied at the time of booking.

Applicants who attend the counter without a prior booking will only be provided with an appointment on the day if there is availability and will be subject to an additional charge.

Applications available for fast-track appointments

We are unable to process applications relating to the conversion of an EASA Part-FCL or EASA Part-66 licence to an equivalent UK licence on a same day service basis.

If you are making an application based on an ICAO licence, you will need to make an application for a Third Country Verification (application form SRG2142) with the UK CAA having received the verification before we can process your counter application. Full details on this application process can be found on our verification of a third country ICAO licence page.

Any pilot who holds an e-licensing portal account and is making a new e-licensing application, must ensure that all documents for the application have been correctly uploaded onto the portal in the correct sections and the application has been submitted prior to their appointment. Failure to do so will result in your appointment being cancelled and your application being pended.

Where the service to be applied for requires the submission of an online application form (Avoka), please ensure that this is submitted prior to booking your appointment. The booking team will check that the application has been submitted prior to confirming the appointment slot. If a paper-based form is to be used, the documentation does not need to be pre-submitted and can instead be brought to the appointment if required.

Getting your application checked before you submit it

Separate appointments are also available for applicants who require support, or a 'checking' service, for an application being delivered to the CAA in person. These appointments must be pre-booked using the same process as a fast-track service. As part of the 'checking' service, a Licensing Officer will perform an initial review your application to ensure that you have included all relevant paperwork and documentation. It is possible that you may still be asked to provide further evidence once your application has been fully assessed after submission.

These appointments can also be used for general Flight Crew or Part 66 Licensing queries. However, queries of a technical nature must be submitted in writing to fclweb@caa.co.uk or eldweb@caa.co.uk respectively.
