Details of the charges for an OSC-based Operational Authorisation can be found in the RPAS Scheme of Charges. These fees are applicable until 22 April 2025.

You must pay the necessary fees as defined in the Scheme of Charges.

There are two charging levels:

  • Case 1
  • Case 2

Case 1: standard charge applications

Any application for operations that are not included in the Case 2 list, are charged at the Case 1 rate.

Case 2: reduced charge applications

Case 2 applications are applications for one only of the following types of operation:

  • flights above 120m (400ft) that are conducted under VLOS
  • flights of unmanned aircraft below 25kg at reduced distances from uninvolved persons, down to a minimum of 30m
  • BVLOS with visual mitigations (formerly known as EVLOS operations)

Case 2 applications cost less than other applications as they take less time to process.

If a Case 2 application takes longer than 4 hours to assess, we will treat the application as a Case 1, and the higher charges will apply.

Charges for complex applications

Complex applications and applications that are not supported by a robust operational risk assessment may require additional assessment time than paid for with the application fee.

Details are in our RPAS scheme of charges.
