Remote Pilots must meet a set of Remote Pilot responsibilities when flying under an Operational Authorisation in the Specific Category.

This page gives an overview of your responsibilities.

Full details of your responsibilities and the Acceptable Means of Compliance and Guidance Material are in the regulations library in:
UAS.SPEC.060 Responsibilities of the Remote Pilot.

Overview of Remote Pilot Responsibilities

Remote Pilots must:

  • meet the specific limits and conditions of the Operational Authorisation
  • meet the general responsibilities for Remote Pilots in the Specific Category
  • maintain a Remote Pilot logbook

There is also a set of responsibilities for Operators

Limits and conditions of the Operational Authorisation

You must meet the specific limits and conditions set out in the Operational Authorisation as well as the general responsibilities.

You must also meet the competency requirements set out in the Operational Authorisation.

Your fitness to fly

You must be fit and safe to fly.

Remote Pilot's logbook

You must maintain a logbook.

We strongly recommend using our Remote Pilot Logbook template.

Using our template is the easiest way to create a logbook that will comply with the regulations.

You must record the following details for every flight you carry out in your logbook:

  • your name and Flyer ID
  • date of flight
  • take-off and landing location
  • duration of flight, including whether in daylight or at night
  • description of the flight, including remarks on any unusual technical or operational occurrences
  • make and model of UAS flown
  • UAS serial number (or registration number, if applicable).

Your flight log should be in a digital format that will be easy to provide to us, and for us to use for oversight purposes.

You must keep your flight log up to date.

The Remote Pilot flight log is different to the Operator's aircraft technical logbook
