RAE(PC)s are approved by the CAA to assess the competency of Remote Pilots, for operations in the Open and Specific categories.
They may issue one or more of the following qualifications (depending on their privileges):
- A2 Certificate of Competency
- Level 1 Remote Pilot Certificate (RPC-L1) Rotorcraft (R) and/or Aeroplane (A)
- Level 2 Remote Pilot Certificate (RPC-L2) Rotorcraft (R) and/or Aeroplane (A)
- Level 3 Remote Pilot Certificate (RPC-L3) Rotorcraft (R) and/or Aeroplane (A)
- Level 4 Remote Pilot Certificate (RPC-L4) Rotorcraft (R) and/or Aeroplane (A)
Individuals and organisations can apply to the CAA to become a Recognised Assessment Entity (Pilot Competency) (RAE(PC)).

Transition from previous RAE scheme
The RAE(PC) scheme replaced the previous RAE scheme in March 2025.

RAEs approved under the previous scheme may continue to issue the GVC in accordance with their existing terms of approval until their approval expires or is otherwise terminated by the CAA.
Both RAEs approved under the old policy and RAE(PC)s approved under the new policy may issue the A2 Certificate of Competency in accordance with the relevant approval.
How much RAE(PC)s can charge for the qualifications
You can set the fee you charge for the qualifications.
Who can apply
You must be aged 18 or over.
Your primary place of business must be in the UK.
You must be able to demonstrate to us that you are capable of carrying out your obligations in accordance with the RAE(PC) Scheme.
If your application is successful, your approval will last for 12 months.
