RAE(F)s are approved by the CAA to assess whether the technical features of an Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) meet an agreed set of UK SORA requirements.
The requirements relate to the design, construction, and flying characteristics of the proposed UAS. Compliance with the requirements demonstrates that the UAS is flightworthy for the intended operation.
Full details of the scheme for prospective RAE(F)s are in our policy concept:
RAE(F)s and SAIL Marking
RAE(F)s play a key role in assessing UAS for SAIL Marking.
Who can apply to become an RAE(F)
Individuals and organisations can apply to the CAA to become a Recognised Assessment Entity (Flightworthiness) (RAE(F)).
Using the services of an RAE(F)
UAS Operators and designers may need to use RAE(F) services.
As an operator, you may need to use an RAE(F) to assess the flightworthiness of the UAS you intend to use when applying for a UK SORA-based Operational Authorisation.
As a UAS designer, you should use an RAE(F) during the process of obtaining a SAIL Mark for a UAS.
