Gatwick Airport is subject to economic regulation of the CAA.

Price controls

We conduct price controls once every few years to make sure that Gatwick Airport Limited (GAL) does not charge users more than necessary for providing airport operation services, while maintaining a required baseline level of customer service. Since the enactment of the Civil Aviation Act 2012, we have made decisions on these price controls:

Price control

Period

Q6

1 April 2014 to 31 March 2021

G7

1 April 2021 to 31 March 2025

G7 Extension

Due to start when G7 finishes

Further information can be found at Gatwick Price Controls.

Ongoing monitoring

We issue an economic licence to GAL. The licence is a legally binding document that supports the commitments that GAL made to its airline customers. These commitments cover areas relating to the maximum prices  GAL can charge for their services, and obligations for GAL on the quality of service, investment plans, and consulting users before making certain decisions.

We also issue various other documents governing GAL’s operation.
