Revalidation and renewal medical examinations can be carried out at by any '1' rated Aeromedical Examiner (AME). Use find an AME for contact details.

Who can apply?

Anyone who has held a Class 3 medical certificate, which has not expired by more than 5 years.

What can I expect?

The examination includes:

  • a full physical medical examination by a doctor
  • eyesight tests
  • a resting electrocardiogram (ECG) if due
  • spirometry to assess your lung function
  • an audiogram, if due
  • urine testing
  • blood test to check lipids if due

Decrease in Medical Fitness

If a certificate holder becomes aware of a decrease in their medical fitness due to injury or illness, which may render them unable to exercise the privileges of their licence, or becomes aware that they are pregnant, they must inform their Aeromedical Examiner (AME).
