Pre-Requisites
Organisations must be based in the USA and hold a current FAR 145 Repair Station Certificate issued by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
How much does it cost?
The current cost of an initial UK Part 145 approval for organisations holding a FAR 145 Repair Station Certificate is £1082.
Please note:
- The fee is only payable in Pounds Sterling.
- Payment by credit card is immediate.
- Payments can be made by BACS, however any bank charges must be covered by your organisation.
Please see Making a payment for further details.
Note: Following the issue of a UK Part 145 approval, organisations will need to pay an annual fee for the approval to remain valid. Currently the annual fee is £646.
In the event of a discrepancy between the information here and the Official Record Series 5, CAA Scheme of Charges (Airworthiness, Noise Certification and Aircraft and Aircraft Engine Emissions), the Scheme of Charges takes precedence.
What do I need to send with my application?
You will need to send the following information to the CAA with your application:
- A completed application form submitted by an authorised representative of the company, for example, the proposed Accountable Manager.
- A copy of the company Unique Entity ID (CAGE/SAM)
- Federal Tax Identifier Number.
- Payment of the relevant fee.
- A copy of your FAA Air Agency approval certificate.
What else do I need to know?
- Following receipt of a correctly completed application form and fee, the CAA will issue you a Part 145 approval reference number to enable you to submit the required document package to the FAA. Please do not submit your documents to your FAA regional office until you have received your UK Part 145 approval reference from the UK CAA.
- The required document package is listed in the Maintenance Agreement Guidance MAG.
How long will it take for my application to be processed?
Once the CAA Organisation Approvals team receive the correctly completed application and fee, a UK Part 145 approval number will be issued within 10 working days.
When a positive recommendation has been received from the FAA, the approval certificate will be raised and sent to your organisation within 10 working days.
What happens next?
The information below provides guidance on what to expect during the process:
- Once the CAA has issued you with a UK Part 145 approval number, your organisation is responsible for submitting the required documentation package listed in the Maintenance Agreement Guidance (MAG) to the FAA.
- The FAA will review the document package and when satisfactory, make a recommendation to the CAA to issue the approval.
- On receipt of a recommendation from the FAA, the CAA will issue the Part 145 approval certificate.
How long is it valid for?
Once granted, a UK Part 145 approval requires a recommendation for continuation of the approval every 24 months from the date of initial issue. This is raised by the FAA and sent to the CAA following a satisfactory audit programme.
