CAP 1096 provides guidance to crane users on the crane notification process and lighting and marking requirements applicable to cranes. In the main, crane-related issues are considered and managed in much the same way as for any tall object, however due to the distinctive character of the crane construction and operations, they are addressed separately.

IMPORTANT: Implementation of the guidance in CAP 1096 will be aligned to the rollout of the Airspace Co-ordination and Obstacle Management Service (ACOMS). Until further notice, please use the guidance found at https://www.caa.co.uk/commercial-industry/airspace/event-and-obstacle-notification/crane-notification/
